Referendum launched against amendment to the Postal Act

STATE MEDIA? NO THANKS

Wetogether with the Action Alliance Original Cantons, Upright Switzerland, HelvEthica Ticinothe Teacher Network Switzerlandthe Vaccination Decision Network and the Constitutional Alliance Switzerlandhave the Referendum against the amendment to the Postal Act (PG) launched on 21 March 2025.

What is it about?
The new law aims to massively expand state funding for the early delivery of subscription newspapers. This favours state-affiliated media and puts independent and critical voices at a disadvantage - even though the people clearly rejected new media subsidies in 2022.

Our common criticism:
The so-called "state media law" distorts the media market, cements existing monopolies and jeopardises media freedom. Democratic discourse is being restricted - we will not tolerate this.
