Parliament wants to distribute billions to private media - against the will of the people.

Voters clearly rejected new media subsidies in 2022. Nevertheless, parliament wants to massively increase subsidies - by CHF 245 million. And this is just the beginning: private publishers are to receive a total of over 1.4 billion get!

 

❌ This is why we reject the state media law

  • State-dependent reporting: Anyone who receives money from the state will not be able to report independently.
  • The will of the people is being ignored: Despite the clear rejection by the people in 2022, Parliament is pressing ahead with new subsidies.
  • Billions instead of austerity: Over CHF 1.4 billion is to flow to private publishers - at the expense of taxpayers.
  • Distortion of the media market: Subsidised publishers are squeezing out smaller and independent providers.
  • Cementing the media monopolies: Large publishers benefit the most - diversity and competition fall by the wayside.
  • Discrimination against free media: Free newspapers and digital platforms are penalised.

Let's stop the waste of taxpayers' money and the media's increasing closeness to the state together! For Freedom of expression, Democracy and a independent press landscape.
