The campaign has been launched: NO to the E-ID Act!

On 28 September 2025, the Swiss population will vote on the new E-ID Act. What at first glance appears to be a practical digital solution harbours considerable dangers for our democracy, our fundamental rights and our privacy on closer inspection.

The committee "E-ID Act-NO" officially launched the No campaign yesterday in Bern. Also present: Friends of the Constitution, Digital Integrity Switzerland, Young SVP and the EDU.

Why we say NO:

  • Steep pass to Big Tech: State-verified passport data could be used by corporations for economic interests.
  • Inadequate data protection: The E-ID makes behavioural profiles possible - including data trading, manipulation and discrimination.
  • No right to an offline life: There is no clear guarantee that the E-ID will remain truly voluntary.
  • A threat to democracy: digital identity could open the door to social scoring and control systems.

"Even as a technician, it's sometimes frightening for me how much my phone knows about me. I'll leave it to you to imagine what would happen if we linked this to a digital ID card."

- Roland BühlmannPresident of the Friends of the Constitution
