Ban Trinational Demonstration 21.10.2023

According to a media release by the Basel police, all demonstrations in Basel are banned from Friday, 20.10.2023 17:00 until Sunday, 22.10.2023. This also applies to the demonstration planned by the Friends of the Constitution. Trinational Demo. Yesterday evening we received the written cancellation by email ("Withdrawal of the permit of 21 October 2023 for peace freedom and sovereignty - three-country demonstration"). The reason given is the Middle East conflict. Interestingly, Basel is the only canton with such a measure and interestingly, it concerns exactly the weekend for which the Friends of the Constitution had applied for a demo permit 3 months ago.

We take note of this prohibition and respect it. An appeal will be considered, also in relation to the election Sunday.
The SWISS part of the Trinational Demo is therefore NOT ORGANISED from our side. In Germany, a permit is still available.

It is incomprehensible to us why a demonstration for Peace, freedom and sovereignty is meeting with such resistance from the authorities. It seems to us that forces are at work that are not well-disposed towards truth and light. From our circles we hear voices that motivate such headwinds all the more to commit to freedom and peace.

Thus, the Friends of the Constitution can no longer influence what happens in Basel on Saturday. We regret this very much, as we had what we considered to be a good discussion with the police on Monday. This "decision from above" seems to open the door to uncontrollability.
We assume that many Swiss people will go to Weil am Rhein. We explicitly call for absolute non-violence - for us a matter of course, because the demos from the movement of the last 3.5 years proved that a peaceful and benevolent coexistence is possible.
